Authorities have apprehended John Daghita, son of a U.S. government contractor, on the Caribbean island of Saint Martin following a transnational investigation into the theft of $46 million in cryptocurrency from the U.S. Marshals Service. The arrest marks a pivotal development in a case that began with a blockchain dispute on Telegram rather than formal law enforcement channels.

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed the arrest, highlighting cooperation between French and American authorities. The suspect, known online as "Lick," allegedly exposed control of a critical crypto wallet during a public argument with blockchain investigator ZachXBT in January 2026.

Forensic tracing revealed $24.9 million moved to a wallet tied to the Marshals Service, with another $90 million in suspicious transactions suggesting broader theft of federal digital assets. The case underscores vulnerabilities in government-held cryptocurrency reserves.
